"Freedom

Frank’s Freedom Sauce is one of those exceptions.

This sauce was created by Frank Schmer, he of St. Louis Home Fires fame (infamy?), and Uncle Bob – a man with an amazing ability to match flavors with his whole line of Uncle Bob’s Spices and Blends. The idea was to get some fruit tastes infused into the sauce – specifically cherries and apples. Well I’m here to tell you they’ve knocked it out of the park.

The first time I tried it I had one major complaint: too chunky. Perhaps the cherries weren’t pureed enough…but there were just too many chunks and it detracted from my enjoyment. So what did they do? They went back to the drawing board and smoothed it out. The results are a delicious, unique sauce.

I like the consistency, the flavors, the balance of heat & sweet. I think the biggest compliment I can give this sauce is I enjoyed it on several different meats and it complimented them all. I loved it on pork, and think it would be great to glaze on some competition chicken thighs. My friend Alan from the BBQ Pitmasters Radio Show has already tried it in competition – he wouldn’t divulge on which entree – and he placed in the top 10. So we can officially call this a proven, award winning sauce.

The only negative to this sauce is right now it’s only available locally in St. Louis. So for the rest of you, sorry, you’ll have to wait…OR…contact me and I’ll see if I can arrange to ship some your way. When it expands outside St. Louis I’ll be sure to announce it.

Two thumbs up for a unique and tasty bbq sauce – Freedom Sauce.
