Bangers and Mash

Bangers and Mash

Have you all been glued to the TV watching the Olympics like I have?   We decided to do one more Olympics inspired recipe to celebrate the end of the games yesterday.  What an Olympics it was, with USA winning more golds and more overall medals than every other country.  Congrats to all the athletes!

This time we tackled Bangers and Mash – the most famous on London dishes.  I’m not going to post a recipe card this time, but rather just give you an explanation of how to put it all together.

You can use any kind of pork or beef sausage, or a Cumberland sausage.  For this recipe, I grilled up a kilbasa.  But, if you have some leftover smoked bratwurst, you could use those too!

For the mash part, make any kind of mashed potatoes you please.  If you like making them from scratch like my wife does, go for it.  She adds in all kinds of happiness when she makes them – sautéed onions, cream cheese, sour cream…mmmm…..Or, if you don’t have much time, get the boxed kind.

Finally, we also made a traditional onion gravy which we found HERE.

Pile them all on top of each other and you have Bangers and Mash!  For good measure, I recommend adding an ice cold frosty beverage to the meal.  All in all, a fun little meal!

Congrats again, USA!  ….and thanks Great Britain for this tasty meal.
