Why don’t people like Sweet Potatoes? Can someone please explain this to me? Seriously.
Don’t get me wrong, I was frightened of them most of my life. Mainly because they were unknown to me. What I don’t know and don’t understand usually frightens me. Is that the deal with everyone else too? Because, I gotta tell you, I absolutely love Sweet Potatoes.
Let’s think about this: A healthy vegetable that compliments nearly every meal, doesn’t take any work, and is enhanced with the addition of brown sugar and cinnamon.
Yea that sounds terrible. Gross. Ewww.
So get past your fear and try this extremely simple and tasty grilled recipe for Sweet Potatoes. It doesn’t get simpler than: cut, baste, grill, eat. They were done in 10 minutes.
If you aren’t thrilled with them, add a little more brown sugar and cinnamon. It’s okay, they’re Sweet Potatoes.

Grilled Sweet Potatoes with Brown Sugar Butter Glaze
Ingredients
- 3 sweet potatoes skinned and cut into 1/2 inch coins
- 3/4 cup of brown sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- Olive oil for brushing on sweet potatoes
Instructions
- Melt brown sugar and butter in a microwave safe bowl for about 45 seconds, or until melted. Add cinnamon and vanilla. Set aside and be ready to use as soon as sweet potatoes are done.
- Brush some olive oil on the sweet potatoes before grilling. Grill on direct heat for five minutes on each side. Once they are grilled, set aside. While sweet potatoes are still hot, drizzle butter/brown sugar mixture over the potatoes. Serve immediately.
