Blues Hog Original BBQ Sauce – Review

Pint of Blues Hog Original Barbecue Sauce

How good is Blues Hog?

It made my leftover frozen burger taste like a little slice of heaven.

If you like a thin vinegar based sauce, or a sauce with a lot of heat, or just a bland smooth “regular” kind of bbq sauce – Blues Hog is NOT for you.  This is a sauce thick with sugars.  THICK.  Like, molasses thick. Flecks of deliciousness tantalize your taste buds. This is, without any question in my mind, the most unique tomato based bbq sauce I have ever tried or will ever try.

Blues Hog is based out of Perry, Missouri, and the owner, Bill Arnold couldn’t be a nicer gentleman to meet.  I have met him and chatted with him on a couple of occasions and he’s as kind an individual as you’ll find – and a smart bbq man.  His trophies and ribbons tell me I’m not the only one that likes his sauce.  Blues Hog has, in fact, won numerous awards for their fantastic sauce – and they’re all justified.

Again, a warning – if you don’t like sugary sweet sauces, this isn’t the one for you.  I’d still recommend trying it because it’s just so darn unique.  This would also be an excellent sauce to use as a final caramelized glazed on your grilled or bbq meats.  I’m thinking a Blues Hog sweet glaze on some pork chops or chicken wings sounds awfully good.

If you haven’t found this in your local store, you can order as much as you like at St. Louis BBQ Store.

I can’t guarantee you’ll love it as much as I do, but I can guarantee it will be one of the most unique barbecue sauces you will ever taste.
