Two all beef patties special sauce lettuce cheese pickles onions on a sesame seed bun.
🙂 Who among us (slightly) old people doesn’t remember that catchy jingle from McDonald’s in the 80’s? Big Mac’s have been my burger of choice my whole life at the always delectable McD’s. So it was high time that we created our own.
It’s actually very easy to make – it’s really all about using the right condiments. Doing smash burgers as the patties makes it fun and extra tasty…and actually comes pretty darn close to the real thing! You can just use regular ground beef for this recipe or include some spicy ground pork like we use for our regular hamburger recipe.
A couple beef smash burgers, some special sauce, lettuce….well….you know the rest. C’mon, create your own! And sssshhhh….don’t tell anyone the secret sauce is Thousand Island dressing!
Homemade BBQ Big Mac
- Ground Beef
- Salt & Pepper
For Big Mac Construction:
- Sesame Seed Buns
- Thousand Island Dressing
- Lettuce - chopped
- 2 slices of American Cheese
- Pickle slices
- Onions sliced or chopped
- Sprinkle salt & pepper to taste on the ground beef and make into small balls for smashing.
- Follow standard smash burger recipe in your cast iron skillet or griddle - about 3 minutes per side.
- Then simply construct your homemade Big Mac! I also buttered and browned my buns on the grill for a little extra grilled-ness.
